Dear Prospective Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the Officiant Program of the Humanist Association of Canada. The following criteria constitute the basic requirements for making an application to be considered as a Humanist Officiant:
- You should espouse a Humanist philosophy and be familiar with the history of Humanism.You should be an active humanist and a member of a regional humanist organization if there is one in your area. Interested parties, who have as of yet not been active as a humanist, will not be considered.
- Feel free to call 1.705.201.1868 to discuss the program and process.
- If there is no regional humanist group in your area, please consider helping out the national association. For more information on how to volunteer, please contact our Executive Director, Ms Kathy Meidell, at: hac_executivedirector@yahoo.ca
- You should have a degree or diploma relevant to the role of an Officiant, for example, in the humanities, social sciences, social work or teaching. Applicants with equivalent training, education and/or experience will also be considered.
- You should have some experience as a self-employed individual, or have demonstrated skills and experience to manage a small business.
- Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and/or access to a car and/or other reliable means of transportation.
- Applicants should have significant life experience that is relevant to the role of an Officiant.
